Succeeded Dong Jue’s office, he later was sent to Sun Quan as an envoy, Zhang Ke declaring “He is not equal to Zong Yu in ability and insight but the refinement of the former’s moral character far exceeds the latter” Fan Jian helped run the administration with Dong Jue and Zhuge Zhan but Fan Jian was the only one who refused to have dealings with Huang Hao. When Shu-Han fell, he went to Luo Yang and then returned to tend to the people and officials of Shu.
