Biography
Qin Song, styled Wenbiao, hailed from Guangling along with Zhang Hong. He served Sun Ce as an advisor, but died at a young age. In Jian’an 7 (AD 202) Cao Cao demanded that Sun Quan send a son to the imperial court (to serve as a guarantee, or hostage, of Sun Quan’s loyalty). Neither Zhang Zhao, nor Qin Song, could come to a conclusion regarding this matter (SGZ: Sun Quan). In the Jiang Biao Zhuan, a questionable story is recorded in which Liu Bei, during his departure from Wu (after his visit), snuck in a nasty comment about Zhou Yu. In this story, Qin Song was said to have been on the boat along with Zhang Zhao and Lu Su (SGZ: Zhou Yu). Given the fact he usually appears in historical records along with the likes of Zhang Zhao, he probably held a prominent rank in Wu.
