Fact vs. Fiction

Differences Between Fact and Common Fiction

  • Threatened historically to put a later adviser of Sun Ce’s, Lü Fan, to torture. Was probably not the benevolent ruler as he appears to be in Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
  • Tao Qian did not offer Xuzhou to Liu Bei, let alone three times. He did, however, explain to his subordinates that only Liu Bei could restore order to Xuzhou. Kong Rong and Chen Deng asked him to govern.
