HTML Special Character Encoder

You are here: [ Home –> Three Kingdoms History –> Hanzi Project –> Encoder ]

This tool is for Internet authors that wish to include special characters on their Web pages. Paste or type the text you wish to convert into the ‘Input’ field, then copy the encoded results from the ‘output’ field. This tool encodes most special characters into HTML compatible Unicode decimal entities making them legal inclusions inside plain text documents (such as .html files). This also allows you to display foreign language characters without declaring a foreign document type, thus preserving the default fonts and presentation of your primary language.

All foreign language characters should be converted to decimal entities, along with many Latin characters frequently used in Web design such as [double] curly quotes (“” and ‘’), the ellipsis (…), em and en dashes (– and —) and more. Other special characters that are not used as commonly are converted to named entities, which are also compatible with .html files. If you encounter errors in the tool or, as a Web author, you have any questions, please contact me using this form.
